| There are major concerns about Merles in the Pomeranian breed. Studies have been done on the Merle gene, it has
descended from a common ancestor and have been produced through crossbreeding, not as a spontaneous mutation within individual breeds results coming from
Texas A&M University.
With this gene there are real possibilities of hearing and vision impairment. We do not breed Merls and we do not back Merle breeding, if our lines are being used in this type of breeding or our names are being used to promote Merle breeding it is against our wishes. Being a proud member of the American Pomeranian Club, we believe this goes against the code of ethics that we swore by. For those that read this and are using the Exotic Pomeranian name or the owners name to promote there breeding programs that are Merle or any other breeding practices that are unethical, we ask that you please stop using the names. Our personal plead to all breeders of Pomeranians. Our breed is a wonderful breed and we ask you to reconsider mixing breeds and breeding of Merles as they are a form of mixing of breeds. We have enough problems with our breed that need correcting without bring in more problems. Anyone mixing breeds, breeding Merles, operators of puppymills, or anyone selling to brokers please don't contact us as we will not sell to anyone that is known for these practices. Thank you for your consideration. |
